Green Finance and Developing Countries: New Opportunities

Date: 25 May 2017

Building on the Singapore meeting, the Berlin workshop that took place on the 30-31 May focused on green financial technology (fintech) and greening foreign direct investment (FDI).

During the first day, discussions focused on trends and opportunities that new and emerging fintech applications and business models create for developing and emerging economies as well as green finance policy implications.

The second day highlighted opportunities to unlock the potential of FDI as a source for sustainable and low-carbon development, including approaches for coordinated action at the national, international and market level.

Over the two days potential issues and opportunities for developing and emerging economies, particularly with respect to areas for cooperation with the G20 were discussed.
