One Planet Summit

Date: 23 Nov 2017

On 12 December 2017, the anniversary of the adoption of the historic Paris Climate Change Agreement, the world will meet again in the French capital to fast forward climate action to a higher level.

At the request of President Macron of France; the President of the World Bank and UN Secretary-General of the United Nations; Heads of State, governments, civil society and the private sector will meet to raise the bar on an essential, catalytic ingredient.

The Summit will showcase good initiatives, big and small, old and new, that can be scaled up with the right kind of support, ones already combating climate change while boosting the quality of life and livelihoods of poor people and providing multiple sustainable development benefits in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Summit will also explore how the world’s financial architecture can be re-focused, re-set and powered up to unleash the trillions of dollars that will be needed for sustainable development globally.

The UN Environment/World Bank Group Roadmap for a Sustainable Financial System proposes an integrated approach that can be used by all financial sector stakeholders—both public and private—to accelerate the transformation toward a sustainable financial system.
