Launch of the Nigerian Sustainable Finance Roadmap
Date: 03 Dec 2018
In partnership with FMDQ OTC Securities Exchange Nigeria
The UN Environment Inquiry launched a multi-stakeholder project in 2017 to understand the opportunities, barriers and solutions for sustainable finance to meet development needs in Nigeria by 2030. A wide range of finance sector stakeholders took part in a survey, which was complemented by expert interviews, fact-finding missions and desk research. The process provided rich insights on sustainable finance opportunities in Nigeria to complement domestic developments including the country’s first sovereign green bond in December 2017. Drawing on these insights, the resulting “Nigerian Sustainable Finance Roadmap” outlines recommendations that can unlock the investment needed to move Nigeria onto a more sustainable growth trajectory that will benefit its people, its environment and the economy.
